Hello, another lovely Sunday, hope you had a lovely week. I had been thinking all week were to start from, and then I had an argument with someone about the best vehicle in the world, at least for Lagos. Think about, on a daily basis, we face traffic, meet terrible roads, and are bullied by so many other road users with bigger or horrible looking cars (with nothing to lose). As if that were not terrible enough, some government road law enforcers would look for any opportunity to bully you.

Well that is going to happen no more, because the people at paramount South Africa have made an awesome machine that can be bought by anybody (as far as you pass the background test).

THE MARAUDER, THE BEAST

 There are actually about 75 made so far, and it can carry up to 4500kg(an overweight family has no problem in this). For speed freaks, it is kind of slow, with maximum speed of about 120km, but who cares, its still quite fast for something its size.

THE BIG DOG AND the chihuahua

Iron man suit has nothing on this beast, there is no kind of bad road that can affect your shocks, and is as secure as a bunker. Thinking about it, this would be the best option for the 'A-team' movie. Ok ok, agreed its not the best looking car, but if you buy a Ferrari you would be paranoid driving it around, so what’s the point. With this, you really don’t care, nothing can stop you.

 Like we all suppose to know, if you are under 30 years old, single, with no kids, and your car is not a taxi, well you really have no business with a four door sedan, for crying out loud, it would be only you in the car 70% of the time. Plus when you seriously compare the sedan and the coupe, the coupe is much sexier. However, knowing that a bunch of Nigerians won’t just buy the idea of two door instead of four (more is better than less), car makers are coming out with fantastic designs that meets your excessive needs for more doors and at the same time gives sleekness.

ITS A COUPE, ITS A SEDAN, ITS THE 'CC'

he Germans have done it once again, Volkswagen Passat cc (some just call it the CC, kinda has a sexy ring to it to #wink) comes with a 2.0l or 3.6l V6 engine (if you have plenty money to use on fuel, considering Lagos traffic and the roads you can’t speed on). It’s an amazing 4-wheel drive and each wheel has its own individual suspension (feel the bump less on other parts of the car).

The head lamps also have AFS- basically means, when you turn, the hand lamps turn also. And speaking of lights, the rear view mirror automatically dims when light reflects on it, and brightens up.

 Obviously, xenon and day running LED head lights are a must-have in today’s cars, but miss CC also has LED on her tail lights. So, if some dude hits you from the back, his excuse can’t be ‘I didn’t see your lights’.

 Clearly the people at Volkswagen tried to make this baby as premium as possible. On the interior its all leather trim, I particularly like the stitching of the seats, and take a good looks at the seat design, it just fits right into your backside (let’s not forget to add that it has an inbuilt massager, she would treat you right).

 

The dash has an aluminium trim and soft plastic and rubber across the doors and dashboard. Tech wise, its console is touch screen, controls climate, satnav and audio systems, with your phone and audio easily connected by Bluetooth system, pretty straight forward and easy to use. In addition, the CC has the basic reverse/parking censor on the front and back ,and on engaging the reverse gear, the hidden camera is activated and the view is displayed on the screen (yaay @ parallel parking problems)

 One thing that was wrong with the former CC, was the 4 passenger seat(they freaking put HUGE cup holders in the middle, seriously). Well, guess they finally got good counsel; it’s now a five seater. 

 Something preety cool though is the frameless door, really gives it that coupe look.The main problem with this car is, due to the awesome design, the headroom at the back  is terrible, so if you are a tell boss who intends to sit at the owners corner all through, sorry for you.

 

Finally, for all these scientific fun stuff and honestly a lot of luxury features as compared with mid-luxury brands like Acuras and Lexus, the base price starts at $31,000 and the full option goes to about $42,000. Honestly I think for a Volkswagen $40,00 is pushing it a little too far, you could get a benz or bmw for that price, so having the sport plus version for $33,000 or the lux version for $36,000 is not to bad a deal for what miss CC is packing

 

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

The popular Honda accord. They have come up with the 2013 redesigned model (thank God, they usually just extend or tint the head and tail lamps), and honestly it’s quite sleek. It starts from a 2.4l engine and grows to a 3.5l v6 engine (with flappy paddle gear box). Obviously, the coupe is the better looking version, the sedan is ok too. Although, I kind of wonder why the tail lights (for the sedan) is a little too similar to the Hyundai genesis,

  the coupe on the other hand is simply a beauty.

It comes with a different style grid (a little like the modern old school), then you have your basic LED day running lights, but still quite stylish in this one, cutting across almost like a super car. it also has cameras on the rear view mirror to watch the road and alerts you when you are going of lane or it feels you are going to collide with the car infront (cars really do all the driving these says).

So, on the inside, the base version comes with you regular console with buttons to control your multimedia and climate, the 8" display however is a standard used for your text (which could also read out loud) , multimedia, maps, rear view and side view camera(which has a wider angle in the full option model) and data about fuel consumption, trip computer etc.

the higher models ofcourse would come with the much cooler and multifunctionaltouch screen control(basically just to show that you have more money than the other guy)

I really would not associate this car with luxury, but you definitely would get your money's worth for the amount of tech in there to keep you busy and the new catchy design. Weird thing though, how even the v6 version has an eco system that reduces the performance and focuses on fuel efficiency and low emission.
