FUN FACTS WITH Dr SCHELDON ADURA

Basically today is easy, just fun stuff. So have fun.

IMPALA
Chevrolet impala had a breaking sales record more than a million 1965. agreeably its a beautiful car, but more than a million unit sold as at 1965 #jawdrop.

THE BEGINNING
The first self propelled car was invented by Nicholas Cugnot in 1769. As seen in the picture below it has three wheels and it had a boiler at the front together with the engine. Had a maximum speed of about 6km (i bet i could run faster so what was the point) and also seem hideous to look at.Well it was used by the army to move canons(OK, i can't do that.).

GET RICH OR DON'T DRIVE HERE
The most expensive city in the world to park in is London central. It could cost you as high as £578.87 per month or even more. Plus you’ll have to pay the congestion charge (about 10quid) just to get there. I actually heard that the rich people that stayed there wanted didn't like the influx of people and wanted the congestion charge to be as high as 50pounds sterling ($78).

 CRUISING BEHIND THE TILLERS
The first set of cars didn’t have round wheels, they had levers (the tillers) that was used to steer. It looks fun, kinda like a jet, but i bet the turning was poor.

BEST SELLER
So, Bash Ali, sorry mistake, i meant Mohammed Ali is the best Boxer of all time, yeah. Pele is the best footballer of all time (wait or is that Messi now), oh well back to cars, The best SELLING (so if your family never had one, your friends family did,) car is................ drum rolllllllll. The TOYOTA COROLLA. Selling 32million  since 1966 till date

CLASS
The city with the most rolls Royce per capita is Hong Kong. Basically this means that the amount of Rolls compared to the population is more, basically they have the richest guys. HMmmmm, relocating time.
somehow there is more of this far far away from where it originated (UK)

CLOWNS
The biggest amount of people stuffed in a smart car (originally made for 2) is 19, Pakistan crashers at defense authority creek club in Karachi, Pakistan on 15 December 2010, Errrrr, what exactly was the point of this.
I'm pretty sure at a point, someone ate another persons armpit hair and someone cupped a feel
FLASH
The fastest car is divided into two.
A bunch of guys came together, i guess just cause they wanted to set a record, and decided to put jet 2 jet engines on a tiny cylindrical objects with tires. This OBVIOUSLY (if you put jet engines on a bike or anything it would be fast, its not rocket science, wait it kinda is, but you get) makes the Thrust SSC the fastest car with 763mph.

clearly this is to be used only in the dessert.

So when in the real world, and you want to be the fastest, or one of the fastest, then there is only one choice. The Bugatti Veyron Super sport (when you pronounce this, you always feel that energy within you). They had the original version, then the Aero came out with something faster, so the people at Bugatti had to release the Super Sport. Imposed top speed of 255mph, could actually reach 267mph. 0-60 is in 2.5seconds. If it passes the imposed 255mph, there is a risk that the tire would explode, how awesome is that.

I'm a beast, I'm a monster

NO MORE EXCUSES
So we know not everybody can afford a car yeah?, wrroooong. They are getting cheaper and cheaper. The irony is that the BILLIONAIRE chairman of TATA company made his engineers find cheaper materials, and use lesser amount of materials without compromising safety. The result is a Tata Nano that weighs about 600kg (a friend of mine comes to mind) and would cost about $2000, yes $2000. I honestly think its cute and considering the fact that most drivers are the only ones in the  car, the size is not to small, plus trust me, cars could get smaller.

PUNY
I know cars could get smaller than the Nano because, well the smallest car in the world is a Peel P50. It is more like a carry on. it was built in 1963 (i wonder why, the roads where bigger and freer then). It seats just one person, maximum speed of about 35mph (no speeding tickets for you) and weighs about 59kg(no body comes to mind). As at 1963 it cost about 199 pound sterling (present day 1400 pound sterling or $2200), err expensive much. Now as if it were not pissing enough, its back on the market, and guess how much? $16,000. Well at least, no issues with parking, you can drive into the office and when you are bored, you can walk and drag it along(helpful in traffic)

hey cutey, hop on the roof, lemme take you for a spin.

I GET DOUGH

So by every standard, this car is iconic, i could say it sets a record  for breaking records. The Most expensive production (still being produced) car. No it's not the Rolls Royce, and some dude is probably thinking its a golf stream-sorry bro that is a plane not a car (wait, why am i creating suspense when the picture is just below). $2,400,000 Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. World's Fastest @   a fast price.

flames sold separately

ook. so you just started thinking of how to make millions to buy a Veyron. Well, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO was recently sold for $35,000,000. Only 39 were ever made (who cares, that is just soo much money, its soo much the car is beginning to look ugly). I think i would go buy 65 impala, may be by 2023 it would be worth a $100,000,000, #fingers crossed

TRAFFIC OF LIFE
So traffic, we all hate it yeah, it is annoying. Next time when you are in a 30minutes - 1hour even if its a 3 hour traffic, be grateful.
In 1980 Paris - Lyon on the french autotoute. 110 miles of traffic, due to congestion and bad weather.

Even worse, Beijing to Tibet express way 62 mile (yeah i know i said worse, you would soon see why), it lasted for 12 days(at a point i would abandon the vehicle) with some vehicles moving as low as 2miles per day(lmao). Apparently was caused by increase in number of trucks and vehicles, some how i assumed someone with a diabolical plan to take over the Chinese area created a traffic-jaminator.

a good business location, sell a bottle of water for $10 and above

 GIRL POWER

You know how we always believe make-up is to women as cars is to men. Wrong, it turns out that women play a great role in the working and development of the cars. What can we do without women

yeeaaah, shes inventing/ fixing something alright.

 SWEET ON THE INSIDE
Evil Genius, the Genius is there for a reason. Creativity. Remember the car that i said, hippies and happy people tend to use, well it turns out that the Nazi leader (hail Hitler), was involved in the very 1st design and that design still exist till date. One would have expected a more terrifying design not the Volkswagen beetle.

NOT SO FINE

So, we have all been there, one way or the other- tickets/fines. So this 37 year old Swedish dude just bought a $140,000 Mercedes SLS, and of course was tempted to get the best/fastest value for his money (you can't blame him). He just did it on the wrong road and country. In Switzerland, there is no fixed fee, your fine is calculated based on your speed and your income (i bet rich people in the UK, US and Africa would be jumping now). So we know he has money (SLS) and he was going at a speed of 180mph. Fine = $1,000,000 (laughing soo hard, sad bit is, you would rather just leave the car, but they also have his license, ), wonder how it worked out for him (still laughing).

That's all folks. Have fun and drive safe.

OKWUOTO EKELE EZE (2)

NISSAN PATHFINDER

some say it kind of looks like a Hyundai, whooo cares, it still looks pretty cool

i really I'm not going to be finding any paths am i? need a name change.

This has been reintroduced as a cross over (uni-body) from the original hardcore truck chassis (body_on_frame). Some people are not too happy about the change, well they still have the option of the Xterra and Frontier (another option is to use a bicycle it's good for your glutes). Personally I believe it has evolved for a more modern world, at least women can now use a rough-tough car without people looking at them like they beat up their husbands.

4 Camera all around the vehicle, iPod integrated systems. Hey guess what, extra 2 seats; yeah, its now a 7 seater  (with reasonable legroom and headroom), so no more excuse to ditch you when your "cool"elder bro is going out with his buds.
So it also has terrain management (adjust the vehicle to the present road), which makes it decent off-road, but we gotta be honest, it ain't as great off-road as the original pathfinders. It is more towards the sporty and comfort section than the off-roads. 8inches lower, leaner and wider.

60% of the interior is high grade leather and you would also notice the nice looking wood finish. Optional ventilated and heated seats. everything has been made quite premium and real up to date with the tech on the inside.

3.5l v6,  fwd and awd, cvt power transmission
Acceleration (0-60mph)
7.76 – 7.9seconds
Fuel economy (city / highway)
19-20/25-26mpg
Price
$28,650 - $41,850
so basically,, its quite an amazing car, and yeah people would stare and ask "is that really a pathfinder, its cute" and should be a good buy, but as i will always say, if you are going to be spending as high as $40,000, well you might as well add a few more and up your luxury some more. A trim for $35,000 and lower? yeeah, nailing it.

Hyundai Santa Fe:

Lately this brand has been releasing new and quite catchy designs to the market and doing it very fast. The Santa Fe is probably one of last to come with a new design, but the wait was quite worth it. My problem with Hyundai has been that the designs are attractive at first, but just don’t look solid or rigid enough. This however seem to be done just right.

they really did their homework,  it has the option of rear heated seats and has proper leg and head space. The rear seats also reclines. Optional push to start, touch screen media interface, heated steering (ook, that's kinda wow  on an Hyundai), has iPod integration, Bluetooth, plenty, many, much, vast storage space. A real lux effect is the full panoramic roof, and also rear window shade. On the downside, no powerlift gate.

Safety wise, it has the usual: stability control, brake assist (the car applies the brake with more force than usual). Has ascend and descend control/assist, lane departure warning systems. Parking assist (steering actually turns, well that's what they say), adaptive front lights, hmmmm i can't go on, actually that's kinda the end.

They also added an option for sports, comfort and normal steering controls. To be honest, its not so bad off road, but naaaaa, don’t hold your breath.

GUESS WHAT

so Hyundai has said its going to STOP producing the Veracruz

 and replace it with this
LONGER? YES
the extended wheel base of the Santa Fe, that would comfortably seat 7 people. This new extended wheel base version would include the power tail gates (boot/ back door). Now to clear it up, there are some NOT EXTENDED wheel base (so the size as the normal but it has 7 seats) these particular one, i fink the last row was design for dwarfs alone, the headroom is crap and the access is also poor.

2.0l Turbo,2.4l,3.3l v6, AWD/FWD, 6 speed auto.
Acceleration (0-60mph)
7-7.5seconds
Fuel economy (city / highway)
19-21/26 -29mpg
Price
$24,450 - $35,925

In total, its an average car in general, it meets all needs averagely. Off-road = average, sportiness = average, comfort = average, economy = a little over average. Average Santa

 Toyota rav4

Toyota has been known for their efficiency and durability. The new redesigned (i wonder why they even bordered) Rav 4. You know how many designers and artist are inspired by already existing things, mainly from nature? well i think this particular designer was inspired by this:
seriously, look closely, you would see the remembrance. Oh well, we will get used to it, not like we have a choice.

They actually fitted this with a lot of cool standard features like the touch screen display, rear cam. The interior is also quite nice and has a luxury feel to it, especially the two toned "softex" (looks and feels but is not leather, Toyota's way of saying yaaay we are inventing something new , ) a very good addition though. They also removed the third row, apparently people were not buying that trim.
lovely two toned interior with very luxury  look and feel

Also added 2 driving modes: eco and sport, its pretty self explanatory. Something cool is that you can preset the tail gate to raise itself to certain heights to allow easy reach for the vertically challenged (fancy word for short, why do people have to make life complicated).
2.5L, 6 speed auto
Acceleration (0-60mph)
8.9seconds
Fuel economy (city / highway)
22-24/29-31mpg
Price
$24,050 - $27,860
Optional AWD
$1400

Well, totally, it improved, more efficient, more fun, more tech toys, more useful, basically more Toyota. But next time, if it ain't broke please don't fix it (yes @ the design).

MAZDA CX5

OMG, such a cuteeeey

I am not a Mazda fan, actually when I i think of cars, Mazdas don’t come to my mind. But this, this is quite the IT car.
Standard push to start(exactly its 2013). Its a compact SUV but has ample comfortable leg and head room even for a 6 footer. obviously due to its compact size, it has good handling. Sooooo, it could take a little mud and dirt but its not really an of -road vehicle (has no hill ascend or descend control) -PLEASE KEEP ON TARRED ROAD.

has blindspot detection, adaptive headlights, bluetooth. This car is more economical than some hybrids (take that hybrid cultists). What seems to be a complaint though is that rear seats do not recline which is fasst becoming a norm. Never to worry, you would be distracted since it has the others like parking sensors, stability control, keyless entry and start, ipod integration, automatic lights and wipers........

2.0l sky active 6speed auto
Acceleration (0-60mph)
9.2seconds
Fuel economy (city / highway)
25-26/31-35mpg (saaay what)
Price
$20,995 - $28,595

if you are a person, and you are going to use a vehicle on a daily basis to, well just about everywhere, this is IT.

so yeah, been a looooooooooong session, buh we done now. seee yah soon.

OKWUOTO EKELE EZE (1)

Since this blog started, we have really not gone through any SUVs so yeah its about time, i know ok. So to be very honest these vehicles are BIG and STRONGER than your usual sedans, hatchbacks and minivans. This is because it was 'originally designed for off-road usage' (did u read that? offfff - roooaaad, as in not on the road). Anyways car manufacturers have gradually adjusted these vehicles to suit every day needs. So today we would go through what is new and what we are to expect in the SUV world this new year (basically if you have the money, go order yours and show off to your friends ).

2013 RANGE ROVER (4th generation)

This don’t come very often, the last one came 10years back, the all new range rover. The frame is the same, but the design has changed. I am honestly not too impressed with the new design, they used a youthful design on a bold classic, like my 90year grand dad having a nice cut Mohawk, just doesn’t work (it’s exciting and has great detailing, but it would take time getting used to). They made it wider and 1.5 inch shorter (looks more balanced). It also has an extended wheel base (distance between tyres).420kg lighter due to aluminium body,

On the inside, they did well (almost like the Bentley and Rolls Royce), to reduce the buttons on the dash, keeping it all simple and plain (at such stage of life, you can’t be bordered to want complexity). Still like the Bentley and rolls, they have a 4 seater version, so chauffer driven with controls from the back (a nice scam, moving away from ordinary SUV to prestige). About 4 inch more leg room, but its still not fantastic at the rear. All seats are powered and recline able. 5 cameras round the car.
Led dashboard screen, comes up when powered (that’s something nice to look at, (but cannot programmed)

It would respond according to your will in any driving condition. Air suspension. You do not need talent to be a getaway driver (if you commit a crime and need a getaway car, this is it), the car adjust itself to suit the terrain. It could drive through a flooded area about 900mm (above its bumper) deep.
So, once the doors come in contact with the frame, it shuts itself. That is cool, but would be better if it could close entirely itself with the touch of a button. Think about it, it would take time getting used to not shutting the door yourself (although now, it solves the issue of a partially shut door).

5.0l v8, 8 speed auto gear box
Top speed (mph)
130 – 155mph
Acceleration (0-60mph)
5.1 – 6.5seconds
Fuel economy (city / highway)
13-14mpg/19-20mpg
price
$83,500 - $130,950

Price has gone up about 40% but also that kind of covers for the increase in performance and technology. Ordinarily would have said it’s too pricy, but considering you wouldn’t get outdated for the next 10 years, that’s great value for money. Just get it 1st before it loses its prestige (basically anytime before idris abdulkarim or ALI G).

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class

This is the redesigned GL-class, and from the very first one I have loved it. The exterior is just beautiful all round (although the rear lights have this BMW feel, that’s weird). Now 55lbs (do the conversion to kg yourself) lighter, even though it is higher, wider and longer than the previous one.

It has a 7 seat capacity (its competitors like the Lexus has 8, yeah, the coach, his wife and son would like to carry his basket ball team everywhere.). It’s supersize, so there is enough head and leg room for everyone. It has the usual Mercedes tech like attention assist and all, but guess what semi-blind people?, It can park and also pull out from the parking position for you (hmm I should have had that for my driving test).

SUVs are all about performance, and this has the terrain monitoring system, air suspensions and could raise itself 300mm to go easily through rough terrain. It could tow 7500lbs.

3.0l - 5.5l, v6 - v8, 7 speed auto gear with paddle shifters
Top speed (mph)
155
Acceleration (0-60mph)
4.8 - 8.3
Fuel economy (city / highway)
12-17mpg/ 17-21mpg
price
$62,400 - $116,925

Something useful: to enter the back end, you press a button and the middle row folds and opens up space for easy entry and access to the rear (this is a clean and straight statement; do not interpret any other way). Yes, another increase in price, but not so much, and I believe it’s due to these entire new techs. Fairly good value for your money. Lets not forget it's a benz.

2013 INFINITI JX

The JX has this subtle gentle looks. Face it you gotta loves her bumps and humps too, like a sexy housewife.

So on her inside, it is all nice premium quality and finish, although the dash board has hard finish (quite disappointing). The middle row slide 5inches and recline but the last row seats also are a little too close to the floor and have little head room, although this is common in SUVs of this kind (its basically for the very little kids who cry and whine ’are we there yet’, now we know why they are in a hurry)
touch screen and nub controlled media, preety unique
Hmmm, this is not just something cool, but when I said house wife, I mean she has sooo much to offer and so little to take: adaptive laser guided cruise control, lane assist, driver and attention assist drive control (assisted acceleration and braking) cameras round the car with moving object detection, linking your Google calendar with the satnav. Teenagers are going to hate this, but you can put a speed limiter on it, and you can map out an area, so if your kid drives out of that area, a message is sent to you. Yaaay for parenting techniques of the future.

When backing up (reversing/going back), if there is a moving object too close, it alerts you then brakes, then releases the brakes when there is no other obstruction (I thought about reversing into roads with traffic, basically unless someone stops, you are going to be there for a looooooooong time).
3.5l v6 continous variable transmission 6 speed
Top speed (mph)
121
Acceleration (0-60mph)
7.9sec - 6.9sec
Fuel economy (city / highway)
18/23-24mpg
Price
$41,250 - $57,190
Optional entertainment system
$1700
Optional 4Wheel drive
$1400

In a way, this vehicle is complete. It’s cheaper than the two above but give almost the same amount of luxury and tech functions. Very good value.

2013 Audi Q5

isn't she lovely
So if you have just one kid, or you are single, but you want to ride high and in style, this comes in. It looks like a proffessionally made up super model, no extraordinary curves, just simply lovely.

On the inside, you can be rest assured that the best quality materials have been used, and unlike the q7, the design of the dash is an eye candy. There is good enough leg and head room for a 6feet bloke. Also comes with a nice panoramic moon roof. I think this has become a norm so I would stop saying it, but it has a rear cam
Has lane assist, adaptive cruise control, adjustable steering, handling and suspensions. Although, probably because its geared toward sport rather than utility, the suspensions are tightened leaving it with room for improvement in ride comfort. It comes in 4wd and has hill decent control.

I must say that as an SUV its off road capacity is not fantastic (then again less than 30% of buyer go off-road), but bring it down to race, then you see it’s full endowment.

 2.0 - 3.0l v6, 8 auto speed gear. with paddle shiftters
Top speed (mph)
139.81
Acceleration (0-60mph)
5.9sec – 7sec
Fuel economy (city / highway)
17-24/23 - 32mpg
Price
$35,900 - $51,000

The issue is, this is a car for those who have gotten rich (not those still trying or have died trying). This is because for this kind of car the base version does not give you a lot of tech and functions (no Bluetooth, no iphone hook-up, no keyless start, WHAT!!!, this is the height of stinginess), so you would have to spend more and more to get value for this. So value, not so much (except you are $$$millionaire, then who cares about $51,000).

2013 acura rdx

I HATED the old RDX, was just not appealing.  The people at Adura (yes oo, the person responsible for the name made a typo, and I told them it’s alright that Acura sounded almost as cool as Adura) worked on this, and the RDX is a pretty looking car, from all sides.

It used reasonably good quality materials on the interior. Oh and the seats are heated aaand ventilated. The cabin is quite and serene even on high speed. At the rear, its dull as no climate control or power input and the seats can’t recline.
The drive comfortable and it turns out if you want to go off-road, it would easily handle the challenge. As to being sporty, not so much.

Tech wise, the base version has good amount of tech in it and obviously the full option has more (err that’s no brainer). Comes with standard push to start, rear cam (I know I said I would not say it again, but just this 1 time) with three different views. Things it lacks as a new car are blind spot assistance and assisted cruise control.

3.5l v6, 6-speed auto gear with paddle shifters. AWD or FWD
Top speed (mph)
 135
Acceleration (0-60mph)
6.2sec – 6.4secs
Fuel economy (city / highway)
19 – 20mp /27 - 28mpg
Price
$34,320 -$39,420

This segment has basically covered 'luxury' Large, medium and small sized SUVs. In general you would observe that they have si,ilar features and technology, what would differ would be in performance, build quality and badge. A few luxury super SUVs are set to come out further this year, i would keep you posted (woow, like how serious i sound at the end init?, but im a very serious person though, seriously, no seriously, believe me).

A part 2 of this would be out soon, it would cover regular (not luxury) SUVs for 2013. Take care and drive safe.
